Nice progress. A lot to do because the are 3 workstations? Brass tube as choke?
P.S. Wie hat mal Spliff gesungen: "da fliegt mir ja das Blech weg". Hoffentlich nicht aber ausm Cockpit🙂

Excellent cockpit: IMO very good kind of "weathering" the seats. Less is in this case the more. ?

Hanno, you are raising the bar a bit higher with this WIP. Very very good work so far.
About the wing fold mechanism, don't give up! You will find a way to deal with it. I found this in Hyper Scale Forum, may it help to find a proper solution.

For sure no excuse, because we never give up 😄
You're most welcome Hanno. A pleasure to help, also a reason to be here on Scalemates 🙂

Finally capitulated on the folding wing idea, exceeds my skills by far, not enough room for hinges in a realistic depiction. Instead: one wing folded, the other one expanded. Some progress on cowling details.

I admire your precission work with the engine wiring, and the cockpit looks fabulous too. I'm intrigued about that "toast" method for canopies. Do you heat the plastic in a bread toaster to conform it?

Thank you David, yes indeed, I use a toaster to heat the clear plastic material I hold between two pliers until it softens and slightly slacks, and then pull it over the original part I intend to replicate. After cooling, you can then cut off all the excess . The parts you get might be slightly oversized, as you use the outside shape as template for replication, but in most cases it makes no noticable difference.

Haha, never thought of a toaster in that way! Thanks for the explanation, I'll put it into practice!

About the self made canopies, what kind of material and material thickness do you use for them?

Thank you Cristian, It's a kind of „upcycling" of transparent packaging material, that has already once been deepdrawn into shape (see picture# 50 in the album) .
Thickness in this case is 0,22 mm.

Fantastic result - perfect balance of all details, top paint-job and I really like how the thin canopy adds scale-impression - combined with the absence of significant weathering, it does not look like a model at all, but really like a well-maintained real airplane 👍
@John - I was not sure: salute or facepalm? 😄 in any case, an excellent way to show the folded wing structure!

Excellent build. I have recently added this kit to my stash and can see it is a big improvement over the old Monogram kit.

Hanno - can you further explain what you did with the canopy? From what I have heard about this kit is that the canopy sections will not stack properly, so it makes having an open canopy nearly impossible. Is this what you also discovered?

Thanks Mates !
@ John - that is exactly what I found, so I made alternate parts as described earlier on int his thread ( toaster-method), using packaging material shown in pic#47.
I recommend shortening the bottom of the fire extinguisher mounted between the bombardier's and gunner's seat, to make sure that the two moving parts can be stowed completely underneath the fixed part of the canopy.

At first glance, I thought it looked like Bernhard's home airport. And this model, even though it's visiting, clearly belongs there in terms of quality. Beautiful work! 👏👏👏
