Freehand Würger
The fuselage is completely empty inside. I found out it's correct 🙂
Lovely knee protectors, aren't they? 😉
Freehand (hence the project name) mottling training - session 1
Mottling training - session 2
Dryfitting the driver, seems legit.
Elements missing on the Italeri kit wings are clearly visible when compared with the Academy tooling (top)
Same applies to the topside.
Cockpit ready
Time for scratching - these are Caravelle 1/144 front wheel bay doors by Mr.Crap 😉
I think it does the job.
Driver ready for canopy closure.
Ah, awesome fit.
That was a very rewarding evening.
Perfect Putty to the rescue!
Before. (Both Academy & Italeri don't have the correct shape of the cowling undersides (ahead of the leading edge), so I had to replicate it somehow.)
After.
Red and metalizers are on.
This is what the Hataks will look like.
RLM76 is on.
RLM74 - freehand as promised.
But not so much happy.
RLM75 then.
Still, worse than expected 🙁
Another test evening begins.
Some places are worse (lower) and some are better (upper - this is what I aim for)
Getting slightly better, but I need to play more with the mottling.
Blue is what I aim for. The red is what I get.
Session 3 - I think I might leave it like this.
Very rewarding evening today 🙂 Famous decals are there!
Almost there - only varnish and antenna rigging left.
