I picked up this model in it's what if boxing - the kit picture has changed on scalemates to a different boxing no idea why. Anyhow I wanted to build the one shown in the project picture. I wrote fly models and they sent me some alternative decals, thank you! I don't have all the decals to make it exactly correct but managed to get pretty close. The kit has been kind of rough, I broke 4 of the resin pieces and had to piece them back together again, but overall the effect so far is pretty good.

Ben M - Nice work! Scalemates listing for the Fly VZ9 series of models have been split between 2 different 'Topics' - 'Avro Canada VZ9 Avrocar' and 'Avro VZ9' hence the box-top confusion (I think!). I'll drop SCM Data a mail to get the Topics combined under the first, more complete, 'Topic'. 👍 🙂

Outdoor pictures taken. I was fascinated by this saucer as a kid, it was in some airplane book of my dads I think. Thanks to fly models for making a kit of such a great subject.

I just liked carrying it around in the cheese container for some reason.

Hi Joshua, some of the finish is spray paint, other parts are airbrushed.

Hi Joshua, I used gloss black spray paint to prime the main part of this. I had a little leftover from another project. I tend to just use whatever I have on hand.

Some say the metalisers look better on black smooth surface. However you may end up with a darker result than expected - see my MiG-15. After some testing I have found out the Gunze SM paints are much less translucent than Alclads and that was the solution in my case.
