Ford Woody - Revell

Got this kit second hand. Chassi was started, and the wheels where missing. Thought I'd use it to practice some techniques like rust, wood och fabric.. Found some wheels in the AMT ´51 Chevy Bel Air kit i built a few years ago.  

 

Stripped part of the chrome of by scraping... 

 

 

 

 

Rust color on the frame. And then some clear coat to seal it and help weathering 

 

 

Trying to simiulate a worn "pagamoid" roof. Adding tissue with diluted white glue. 

 

Adding some "wears and scars" to the roof.
 

 

Same tissue as on the roof. Even more wears and tears!
 

 

 

Rust colour base. VAllejo Rust and stain-set. 

 

Sealing with clear 

Body colur. My wife loves green, so thats what I use 🙂 

 

 

 

A bit of dry brushing with oils.

Starting with the wood... The scary part of this build! There are wood decals in the kit, but I didn's like them very much. 

 

BAse of the wood done 

 

 

 

Adding grain and variations with oils. Found good reference picrures of the full size on-line. 

 

 

 

Clearing the wood. I wanted the wood to ook a bit more shiny than the steel parts of the car. 

 

Adding some shadows with Panel liner.

Chassi got some treatment with oily wash 

Wood on the interior 

 

 

 

Gluing windows. Used epoxy for strength and safetey. Held in placce while hardening using pices of wooden sticks 

 

 

 

 

I like white steering wheels! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Done and ready to go surfin'!
