Rob LyttleAVA International were the importers of Airfix kits to N America from 1979 to '81. In 1980 they rebranded as USAirfix with new packaging and new, different decals. This is kit is an example of the rebranding project.
In 1981 the whole Airfix business was bought up by General Mills and that was the end of USAirfix.
The subject of the kit is, I guess, an early Douglas Bomber DB7, polished bare metal and red-dot national markings, straight out of the factory. Just what the British and French purchasing teams were looking at on their emergency shopping trips to the US.
Very old tooling, same as all the Airfix Bostons. The moulded-on gun blisters on the fuselage need to be removed.
An interesting change though, and the subject could probably be improvised with general purpose markings and creative paintwork on the rudder
