August 12, 2024The fuselage fits quite well but there is a small seam to fill.2
August 12, 2024Cockpit is lacking in detail but at 1:144 you will barely be able to see through the flight deck windows.3
August 12, 2024I have painted it in the correct colours.4
August 12, 2024Spraying compressor fans. There are three parts to each assembly5
August 12, 2024Assembled and it fits very well.6
August 12, 2024The compressor is very small7
August 12, 2024Masking for the Neo paint scheme. Tricky.8
August 12, 2024After about four attempts, my pilot son says that the orange is about right - 20 parts Tamiya Orange to 3 parts red. Now to let it harden so that I can mask off the orange and paint the white. The cabin windows are masked with liquid mask.9

August 14, 2024After much masking of the orange, it’s time to paint the white parts of the fuselage. Two coats down. At least one more to go, with a a light sand with 3000 grit between, I think.11
August 14, 2024Three coats of Tamiya XF-2 white after a great deal of masking. In a couple of days it will be more masking to paint the wings.12
August 16, 2024Time for wing painting. All masked up.

August 16, 2024Nearly at decal stage. The wings are painted Vallejo light grey and the slats are Tamiya XF-56 steel silver. Engines and gear fitted. Now to let it dry thoroughly so that it can sit on the wheels. Some details to fit and paint and then gloss coat.14
August 17, 2024Nearly done, just the tiny illegible placard stencils to go and then several coats of gloss clear coat. I am not happy with the flight deck windows but I can’t think of a way to improve them now.15
August 18, 2024All done. Decals applied and two coats of Tamiya X-22 clear gloss varnish. On the whole, I am reasonably pleased with this with the exception of the windscreen.
