I converted Revell's 1/87 Hudson Steam locomotive into the S-4 version of the Hudson.
Histroy:
CB&Q #3003, was donated to the City of Burlington, IA, by the Chicago Burlington & Quincy in 1961. It is on display just north of the Amtrak depot and was refurbished and rededicated in 1991. The CB&Q was a comparatively early adopter of the Hudson type (4-6-4) locomotive, ordering a total of twelve from the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, PA, in 1930 (#3000-#3011). Designated Class S-4, they were designed for fast passenger service and went into service pulling CB&Q "varnish" passenger services. The Burlington's S-4s eliminated the need to swap one locomotive for another on long trips, and they were also fast: one is credited with hauling ten standard passenger cars between Cochrane and La Crosse, WI, at a speed of 112 mph. The S-4 was one of the most successful steam locomotives operated by the CB&Q. #3002 was later streamlined to haul the railroad's stainless-steel Zephyrs. It was renumbered #4000, nam
