Took some research to figure if they painted anti-rust paint on the bottom. As the historians believe it had a brighter red coat then what's on modern ships

The model depicts the USS Monitor during the Battle of Hampton Roads againsts the CSS Virgina. The model built out of the box would depict her with her modifications after the battle, so I had to modify the pilot house and smoke stacks. While also using reference images to add the dents inflicted on the ship from the CSS Virgina. To keep the turret's ability to spin I add magnets to allow it to rotate. Overall the kit had many fitting issues, but has came out great. It's now ready for display at the Military Sea Service Museum for their Civil War section.
