This looks like a simple little kit. Using resin road wheels from R&J Product (out of production?)

I'm thinking more of an "ambush" scheme, but haven't made up my mind. This type of vehicle must have been photographed a lot during the war, because there are tons of pictures on the internet. Lot's of paint schemes too!

George's panzer factory! You made me curious. You've got one spectator more.

If you do the ambush schem have you tried the masks from Ushchi? Here's a link to them and the Uschi website with a How-To video.

Thanks for the link. I've never tried Ushchi, but I'll take a look!

This model has some unhappy quirks. Ejector pin marks on the TOP of the fenders and the OUTSIDE of the rear wheels. I guess they thought this model would be too easy if they didn't add some problems😉

My research indicates this is a late model Hetzer (in spite of what the box says - "Mid"😢. It could not have been built earlier than October, 1944. Didn't they quit applying the "ambush" camouflage by then?

Hey George, this here could be interesting for you: flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=3318

Thanks Holger! That answers my question and is a great reference.

Yep, it was also the answer to my camo-questions! Glad that it helps you!

Since it appears that the ambush paint scheme would be most appropriate on a mid-version Hetzer, I 'll do the Flammpanzer 38 on my late version. Now, I need to start shopping for a model of a mid-version Hetzer...😉

Oh, you poor boy😢!
You can never have enough Hetzer's😄
Till this link I didn't even knew that the disc camo is just another version of the famous ambush camo! I alway thought it was applied later, like early 45's!

Decals added. I hate this part of model building. The model aways looks like a failure to me - glossy/shiney; details not painted; decal edges showing; lint, hairs and dust embedded in the clear coat; and every mistake highly visible. I'm always ready to give-up at this point, but curiousity keeps me going. After this, after all the work done so far, it will either turn in to a total failure or - with luck - an unexpected success. Does anyone else experience this moment when building a model?

Oh yes! When i take a look at my "on hold" stash ... i agree with you George!!

..I don?t know George, I feel your angst but to me this is my favorite part. Time to pull out your bag of tricks! Pigments, oils, highlights, washes, chipping to name some of my favorites.
