Never seen a resin kit of this outstanding quality before, fit is perfect, surfaces almost like polished. Pure fun build!
3 October 2015, 11:16

I Hanno. Beautiful plane, Mate.
I thought you where committed to the 1/72 British Power Boat?
3 October 2015, 11:24

Thanks buddy, I struggled a bit with glazing the the windows, so I needed some distraction. I was quite tempted by this kit anyhow. But I am still working on the boat as well.
3 October 2015, 11:29

OK, well done Mate. Looking forward for the next photos of both projects.
3 October 2015, 11:32

Yes a beautiful plane. And it will be an eye-catcher when he's build. 👍
3 October 2015, 11:32

Some progress with the cockpit. Everything is oob, no need for any extras. This kit is "Eduard quality" in resin !
5 October 2015, 13:50

Thanks Mart ! 🙂 I'm snailing along compared to your output......... 🙂
5 October 2015, 19:09

Well Hanno, I agree, looking to the photos the quality of the kit parts is simply amazing. You kept this quality in your progress, the cockpit looks really nice. I much like the paintwork, it looks so realistic!
11 October 2015, 10:59

Thank you, Bernhard and Christian !
Christian, I used the Lifecolor set for "Wood ", which I have since I worked on the wooden deck for my MAS - boat.
11 October 2015, 18:19

I just picked this kit up a few weeks ago. I think I will enjoy watching you build it so I will know what to expect whenever I get it from stash to bench... Cheers
11 October 2015, 22:31

Robbie, no doubt you will enjoy this one ! Some minor fit issues with the cockpit floor/ wing root section into the fuselage, plus, this part is slightly asymmetrical, so that the wings do not align in frontview. Panellines underneath the wings have to be adjusted too.
12 October 2015, 05:49

Nice and convincing progress Hanno. Guess you plan to build the green one?!
19 October 2015, 18:08

You're right Christian, althought I have some trouble finding the right green. I tried several, and Tamiya's X5 seemed to be nearest to the reference. Thank god I tried it again on a test piece and not on the model itself, as it turned out real splotchy and uneven, although thinned to a milky consitency.... Ordered Tamiya thinner today, I hope it will fix my problem. What's your tip on " Brunswick Green " ?
19 October 2015, 18:19

How could I miss this one?
Very nice start Hanno! This will be a true beauty!
19 October 2015, 18:25

Thank you Christian ! This kit is of exceptional Quality, a fun build . I just have to solve my " green problem ".
19 October 2015, 18:33

Well Hanno, isn`t it British Racing Green? If so try this one:
humbrol.com/us-en/catalog/product/view/id/907/
19 October 2015, 18:43

Ha! What a fast build! Looks very good Hanno. Now the beautiful lines of the airplane are well visible.
19 October 2015, 19:14

This was the colour I was going to do mine - humbrol.com/us-en/catalog/product/view/id/883/ . I have used it on old airfix (kitmaster) train kits (ahh old British steam engines)...
19 October 2015, 21:44

Thanks Bernhard and Robbie, that`s exactly it !
Welcome Guido !
20 October 2015, 10:07

After an almost nightmarish search for the right Brunswick green, and one completely failed and sanded off paintcoat, the " green drama" is finally over . Humbrol No. 3 enamel enlightend with flat white did what I expected. Drying time......
29 October 2015, 21:53

The green looks good! That is the colour I want to use when I build this kit. It is a beautiful kit, isn't it? I've never seen such nice resin.
30 October 2015, 02:19

Thanks mates, glad you like it !
@ Bill , you are absolutely right, the best resin kit I`ve seen so far. So did you get yourself one too ?
30 October 2015, 06:50

Thank you Christian! It's curing for two days now, can't wait to get my hands on it again this weekend.....
Unfortunately, the shiny appearance won't last too long, as I'm going to bring it down a little by applying Alclad Clear Gloss after decalling, in order to avoid for the scale effect.
31 October 2015, 15:51

Alclad Clear Gloss is exact the right stuff for this job. I used for my Tamiya Honda and was very happy with the result. Very good choice mate!
31 October 2015, 19:05

Some small progress, decals on, final coat of Alclad Light Sheen on. Worked fine with Humbrol enamel, and broke the edge of the superglossy look.
5 November 2015, 21:39

Hey Hanno, this is going to be another cool one! 😎 Reminds me of "Planes" although it's green instead of red. 🙂
6 November 2015, 05:30

Thanks Guido, Bernhard and Ulf ! @Bernahrd : You were totally right, less glossy looks far more authentic.
@Ulf : Have`nt thought about it yet, but you`re right about the movie! I´m going to take the completed model with me for the MSTHH on 27th. 🙂
6 November 2015, 07:50

Thanks Komoras and Gordon, I might be able to finish the model today........
8 November 2015, 08:19

Thanks mates, here comes the finished result. This is a fantastic kit, only minor fit issues, and some challenge with the white metal undercarriage. By far the best DH 88 in 72nd you can get, and the best resin kit as well.
8 November 2015, 21:32

Sehr gut gemacht Hanno!!! 👍 😄
Seems like a superb kit and you brought it to the max, it looks like the real aircraft!
I agree, a pity Airfix still goes around with that shame of a kit...the DH.88 Comet is a really marvelous and sleek looking aircraft. It would be really nice to see a 1/72 new tool from them...but until then we have this magnificent kit, I didn't had a chance to see a better looking resin kit. Top notch engineering! 👍
8 November 2015, 22:26

Vielen Dank Komoras ! You are absolutely right concerning the Airfix kit . I only opened the box once, and then
dumped it. It needs a far too big amount of work to get a result somewhere near to satisfactory...... 🙂
8 November 2015, 22:35

Superb! I've been waiting to see what these SBS models look like. Great job!
8 November 2015, 23:20

Good job Hanno, I like it very much... interiors are wonderful !!! .)
9 November 2015, 13:59

Thanks to you all, mates . I am very proud that you like it!
9 November 2015, 14:49

Holla!

9 November 2015, 19:29

Stunning! That's about one of the finest gloss paint jobs I have seen in some time. How was the fit of the kit?
9 November 2015, 19:40

Bernhard und Christian, Vielen Dank ! 🙂
@Lee : Thanks for the compliment ! The best resin kit I've had so far, some minor fit issues on the cockpit section into the fuselage, but otherwise a joybuild. Definitely recommended !
9 November 2015, 20:46

Amazing nice model !!! Beim letzten Stammtisch hast du mir noch die Teile im Karton gezeigt. Der Bausatz hat sich anscheinend sehr gut bauen lassen? Glückwunsch zu dem schönen Flugzeug.
9 November 2015, 23:07

Thanks Andre! You can take a closer look on the 27th, the kit is great . 🙂
