6000 tons ?! Was it such a large base there to attract Harris' attention at the end of the war ? Or was it another case of terror bombing like Dresden ? Anyway, I see the picture says "Gelbe 13", as it seems too light coloured to be red, when compared to the witch's hair colour (presumably red). Herr Jurgens insists the "13" was red, so there are two possibilities in my view: Either the colour of the hair is not red, but a darker colour, or, the numeral is not painted in RLM 23 rot, but another tone, like RLM 28 weinrot or anything similar (is there a possibility that a RAL standard was used ?). Thank you for the photos, more please ?

A lot of FLAK was stationed here and the 15cm middleartillery from the battlecruiser "Gneisenau" and some 30,5cm artillery. The FLAK here guarded the city of Wilhelmshaven and the Kriegsmarine-harbour, so every incoming bombersquadron had to pass Wangerooge´s Flak and fighters.
Yes it is possible that a RAL-standard was used. The Author erroneusly said "Gelb" and that was the reason why your aftermarket- decals where yellow. Can you give me your eMailadress? I have some pic´s i cant load up here, doesnt know why...

I did not know this about Wangerooge, I must admit. There is a photograph about the Gelbe 14 that shows clearly its location and colour...but we can discuss this later. My personal email is, abarber@ath.forthnet.gr. Thank you so much, Holger. 🙂

Also on April 25, 1945 the US and Russian forces met each other in a ceremony near Torgau on the Elbe river.
