Thanks fellas 🙂
Holger, for the base I have used a mix of Tamiya XF-3 flat yellow (~70%) and XF-5 flat green (~30%). The highlights were done with the same colours but with a 90/10 ratio. For the highlights on the edges I used the base mix with a touch of white. Shadows were airbrushed with a quite heavy diluted Gunze H95 smoke grey. The fine details were painted with Vallejo colours.

I am grateful for that info mate, as I used some 'True Scale' bits in mine and I was impressed with the detail in the cockpit you have there. 🙂

Thank you very much mates for all your kind words.
Kerry, I can only agree with you that the Tamiya F4U is a nice kit (as most Tamiya kits are). As Holger said the resin parts are from the Verlinden set No 1220. My experience with Verlinden resin is that they sometimes need a lot of attention to get into place but this update set fits like a glove (well done Verlinden 🙂 )
By the way, for anyone with the slightest interest in the F4U Corsair I can highly recommend Aircraft Pictorial No 7 & 8.

Nice work Mats! That chipping looks great, as is the rest of your Corsair mate 👍. On what sufrace did you use the AK dust stuff? Future? Last week I bought my first AK bottles too 🙂

Mats those wheel and legs look already great! Looking forward to the end result.
I am in the building process of 2 Su-7's and copied(sort of) your faded look of the paint. I am in the decalling stage now and i'm thinking that the decals also need to be faded. Did you fade yours a bit or are you going to?

Thank you Erik 🙂
So far the only fading of the decals has been done in the overall weathering process. I did some testing (I always have a test piece that I paint and weather in the same process as the model to test things on in case the result turns out bad) to tone down the decals a bit with highly diluted smoke and/or light brown/sand colours but I didn't like the result on the large white stars (they turned out too grey or yellow.) I will add some more weathering to the model that will tone down the decals further but I will try to keep the white as "white" as possible.
When looking at the colour schemes on your Su-7's (that looks great by the way 👍 ) I think that a light overspray with a highly diluted sand colour (like Tamiya XF-59 or XF-60 diluted 90-95%) would do the trick for blending the decals but it all comes down to how much further weathering you plan to do since washes and shading will blend and fade them as well. Regardless of how you plan to do I will follow the progress with great interest.

Thanks a lot guys 🙂
Even though this kit is 20 years old it has been a joy to build from start to finish. If anyone is planning to build an F4U-1/2 I can highly recommend this kit.
