Bill HalliwellI found this kit on eBay going for a really low price and was interested because it's originally a 1979 kit and I wanted to compare the differences between this kit and a modern Airfix 1/48 VB Spit.
It only had instructions in Japanese as it appears to have been made, in the UK, expressly for the Japanese market. The decals were missing but that's no great drama as I'm going to do this one in WW2 RAAF livery.
Apart from the total absence of rivets on the model; the panel lines are nice and fine and there is quite a bit of cockpit detail on each of the fuselage halves. The plastic is firm and and quite rigid.
It has far less parts than a modern kit but that is the current trend to have, sometimes, too many pieces.
Even though I'm rubbish at painting figures; there's a little pilot who does not look like he's been dipped in acid.
So, I'll give him a go and do the model 'gear up'.
I'll have to purchase a box of small Airfix stands as I don't usually do in-flight models unless there is a decent stand in the kit (which is becoming increasingly rare these days).
It looks like a 'little' 1/48; if you know what I mean; and I'm not too good on smaller models.
I had to give up 1/72 single engine models etc. as my eyesight and chubby fingers can't manage anymore.
Still, I'm looking forward to this build. It's way down on my build list so I may not get to it until next year (2023). Cheers, Bill H.
P.S. If any Scale Mate has this kit, I'd appreciate any extra info you might be able to provide.
