Excellent.
I have that F-15 in my stash so I'll be looking closely at Your project.

Looking very nice. I just recently finished that kit. I was kind of worried about it at first, but it turned out really nice. Aftermarket is a must though.

Thanks Clifford. I had the same doubts but after looking at your photo album of this model I decided to start this project. This is actually my first modern jet in 1/48 ever and if I can finish this one half as good looking as yours I'll be happy.

Thanks for the nice comments. It was actually a joy to build once I got started on it.

Thanks Christian. I usually overdo the shading and highlighting of the cockpit because it feels like the details becomes a bit more visible after the cockpit is installed in the fuselage.

Thanks Christian. I started to airbrush a couple of layers light grey this morning but unfortunately I ran out of paint before I could finish. Focus will be switched to the undercarriage and exhaust until my stash of FS36375 is refilled.

Thank you all. Next step is to apply a very light panel line wash and some subtle shading with the good old airbrush.

Thank you Mary. My initial plan for this kit was to make a quick build out of the box but I have ended up spending +100h on dry brushing and washing things that no one will ever see. Old habits die hard I guess 🙂

Thank you all, I really appreciate it. Even though this kit has its shortcomings it was a pleasure to build from start to finish.

Yes, it looks very promising. Airfix has done a lot of nice Spitfire kits in the past so I hope this one is as good.

yeah, some have been better than others, I think the Eduard ones are the best I've seen so far. The one thing Airfix still need to work is their clear parts

Orlando & Bill; Thanks
Choppa; I fully agree with you. Eduard Spitfires are the best on the market at the moment, at least in 1:48. I built one Mk.IXc early some time ago and it was a joy to build.

yeah they have yet to do one in 1:32nd scale but hopefully they will soon 🙂
I have a few of their profi packs and boy are they something else, the only things that are missing from Spitfire kits is the engine, the cockpit placards and a plumbing diagram for the cockpit and engine.
If they included those things it would be almost perfect !! 🙂
Their Bf109 E series in 1:48 and 1:32 is also very sweet indeed 🙂
I also have the FW190 in 1:48 which looks like a good kit too
Anyhow, I look forward to your take on the Airfix Spitfire
(I've just bid on one 🙂 I hope nobody else bids on it though😉 )

Bit of a late response on this one. First of all great build. Now I happend to see one of the Bitburg (BT) Eagles, aka Shrimp Boat, crash at the Soesterberg airshow back in 81 just a few hundred yards from where I was standing. Luckily there was no explosion and the pilot got out safely all by himself. Youtube Video

loving it 🙂 what colors did you use on that bitburg eagle, mats?
one q on the sparrows... did they really have those grey sparrows in the early 80s?

Thanks mates, very much appreciated.
That was quite an experience you had Jan. It is good to know that everybody got out of it unharmed. By the away, the story behind the nickname "Shrimp Boat" is interesting.
Markus, I'm not sure about the grey sparrows (maybe correct colour for the time should be white) but the camouflage colours on the Eagle are Gunze H307 grey ( FS36320 ) and H308 light grey ( FS36375 ).
