Thanks Es -haq and Christian !
Christian, this was Bernhard Schrock's Idea when we discovered that we both intended to build this kit, him in 48, and me in 72.
So,currently it' s just Bernhard and me, but everyone's welcome ! 🙂

Well, I like X-Planes a lot, but I don't have this one in my stash so far. Just thought about a groupbuild for X-Planes in general... There are many out of them there... 🙂

Excellent idea, exactly my direction, I already have the S.H. Bell X-1 E in waiting position, so I'm prepared for
whatever comes. 🙂
So maybe we could create another Groupbuild, once we're all finished with our current
ones.

Why not? Sounds good to me! I 've never heard of a X-Plane Groupbuild so far. That would be nice! My favourite would be the X-3 Stiletto from Douglas Aircraft

Yea, the X-3 is the most beautiful of them all, but I like them all, these sometimes odd looking planes.
Which kit of the X-3 is the best in your opinion ? I think I would go for the planet one.

Well Hanno, as far as I know there are only 3 of them... Lindberg, Revell and Planet. Build the Revell" History Makers" edition about 30 years ago. May be I will try it again...

Many thanks for this info! There are two manufactures from which I never would build a model. Mach 2 is one of them 🙂

Each Mach2-kit is in my opinion only an "invitation" for sanding, cleaning and detailing🙂

Don't need too much of that, don't we...... Just came across the Revell kit, when I ordered the Libis Book about the D558 and the X-3, so it went into the shopping cart right away 🙂

Some small but work intense progress : Wheel well doors doubled with PE brass from the spare box, canopy separated and flushed with fuselage.

Thank you all mates ! 🙂
I learned a lot with this build, as I had the chance to get quite a few invaluable tips and tricks from Bernhard Schrock. Unfortunately I messed up the Douglas Logo on the last few meters......
Trying to get an extra sheet from Special Hobby and redo it..

Album info
Many thanks to Bernhard Schrock, who supplied me with an article of the German magazine " Modell Fan" out of 2011, which describes an excellent build of this kit by Thomas Hopfensperger.
I will use it as a reference partially, as good as I can......
