I agree! How did you made the streaking and salt effects?

Thanks mates! ObiJan, photos of the real boat show that she is looking pretty "beat-up." So, I decided to try to capture that look. First I painted the model in a medium gray using Model Master acrylics. I then "wetted" the model with water (mixed with a drop of dish detergent for better flow) and sprinkled salt all over. Then, a dark gray was applied. When it dried, the salt was removed. Did the same thing with the red, using two shades of red colors. I also found that if you remove the salt just after the paint is dry, but before the it is totally set-up, you get other shading effects. Takes some experimenting. I added a new photo to the album showing the first "a-salt." 🙂
