Another build finished for a mate of mine to go with his Tonka F3, the Mighty Hunter that is the Nimrod. The airfix kit was much requested and highly sought after but you don't see many at shows. Don't know why as it's a great kit to build. No real problem areas fit wise, small amount of filler at wing joint other than that the fit was great. Decals are an issue so the main ones were replaced, kit stencils were used. Main colours were hataka lacquer and weathering was completed using a combination of washes, pigments, oils and ak weathering pencils. If it's lurking in your stash, don't be afraid, dig it out and build it....

Really nice job on the Nimrod Dave. A fantastic build of an RAF icon. Top job Sir. 👍

Thanks for the comments all. @marius the kit was very good, better than expected. Small amounts of filler were needed at wing and tailplane joints as well as the fuselage joints between top and bottom, forward of the wing. Worst was the decals. They were thick and glossy and seemed to have a weird second film that came loose when applying. Solution was to trim as close as possible, even on small stencils, then brush on some klear when dry. Apply normal varnishes for weathering after that.
