That looks like a kit, that will make you work very hard. Good look and have fun!

Thanks folks, I'm not going to detail it much as the canopy will stay closed anyway 🙂 I even considered mounting two ex-Matchbox-Halifax pilots inside, but found a nice pic of the seats last week.

Thanks, currently going to close the canopy asap, so I can start sanding the rest. The left wing and stabilisers didn't require much fitting, but I have to work on the undersides, cowling and right wing.

Maybe would be better not to close the canopy before all the sanding is done. There's always some risk, that the dust will get under the canopy during sanding. The fit doesn't look that bad to me, however I've had already done a few Azur or SH kits, so my point of view can by somehow distorted 😉. Good job so far, keep it up! - best regards, Hubert

Thanks Hubert, didn't think of it somehow. Masked the cockpit with blue tack and sprayed first surfacer layer today.

God, save the man, who invented Perfect Plastic Putty by Deluxe Materials ! 😉 (puttying and washing the putty to desired shape took half an hour instead of a week)

Painted! 🙂 Currently the decals are drying along with MicroSol. Some may ask what the heck is that colour? Well, the colour is RAL 6013 by Revell Aqua Color, according to the research provided by Aviation Museum in Kraków (PL) I decided that the Yaks imported from Czechoslovakia must have all been painted in RLM02 / RAL 6013 (like Avias S-199 for instance)

Decalled, washed and varnished using glossy pactra. Currently I'm working on the details - wheels, cables, antennas, position lights and so on...

Looking surprisingly well, taking into account the quality of the kit itself. Well done! However, are you sure that the gear legs are installed on the right sides? Would also consider cutting each of the gear covers into two parts, as the upper part should overlap the lower one. Keep it up Łukasz, best regards, Hubert

Damn, got it now, thanks Hubert, I have to correct it when I'm back home. At first I thought you mean the forks in front... I think I'll scratchbuild the covers to make them look more realistic 🙂

Added couple of details today: propeller, wheels, their covers (scratchbuilt), navi lights (marker), varnished everything in matt and unmasked the canopy 🙂

It's coming along very nicely, and the canopy is awesome! Great job Lukasz 👍

Thx, the canopy is nice thanks to the gauzy agent 🙂 but it's the original part from the kit. Needs a bit of cleanup, washing and outside layer of the agent. So, stay tuned 😉

Well, it's a kind of polish (capital "P" not needed here 😉), like Future (which I didn't see in Yurop yet, who knows maybe AK just repacks the Future this way 😉 ).

Short test in here: britmodeller.com/for..-intermediate-agent/
I see they even spray it 😠, so good that you asked, I can always learn something new.

Varnished matt, added the mast which is bit too thick (unfortunately couple of shrapnels stay on the inside of the canopy after drilling, should've done it earlier on 🙁 ), antennas wait for heating to get them straight. I had to correct the top of the rudder with a brush, should dry till tomorrow.

Finito! 🙂 There are couple of errors though: the upper mast is to thick, the rear light is bit too flat, the canopy is not clear from the inside and the propeller doesn't move 😉 I forgot to add the small red dots on the undercarriage covers before the photoshot. I didn't add postshading and only a minimal weathering as the Polish Yaks seem to be quite clean on the pictures.

Ah, it only seems so Lukasz, as I failed to list my series of "challlenges" and "if onlys" 😉. I admire your tenacity to tackle these old kits. Great effort 👍

Sentiment or not, you've done it and you've done it very well. Seems you like "soapy" vintage or short-run kits (close to my heart too) - can't wait what will be the next one, Ka-26 would be a great choice, indeed. Best regards, Hubert

Thanks Hubert, I'm considering getting a Ka-26 one day (only in Volkspolizei livery), but not yet. Piaggio Avanti will be earlier probably😉 Next sets will be quite "mainstream" - Karaś, Gladiator etc. But there are still many of the "soapy" kits waiting in the queue, like Junkers G.24, SW-4, couple of Hit-Kits and so on 🙂

Great build Lukasz. I like the discreet weathering you have done. Just the right ammount.😉
