Ned BarnettThis is the RAF version of the P-40C fighter - 100 of these were diverted to China and became the Flying Tigers, but they were first given sharks mouths (based on France-based Bf 110) by 112 Squadron RAF. This adaptation and first mission are featured in my forthcoming novel on the Air War in the Pacific, from Pearl Harbor to Guadalcanal (in the novel, a pilot who confronted the Japanese over Oahu had helped introduce the Tomahawk IIC to the RAF in Egypt, and had flown combat as an advisor there. I plan to build this model to show his Tomahawk in that first North African combat mission featuring the Curtiss fighter. ALSO, while not widely known (but illustrated in the novel), below 15,000 feet, the Tomahawk could outperform the Hawker Hurricane and the Supermarine Spitfire.
